Our founder, James V. Tigani Sr., started N.K.S. Distributors on November 12, 1950. Our original location was in the New Castle Airport, Building #65. Our fleet was modest three delivery vehicles and our products consisted of National Bohemian, Ortliebs and Tromers beer.As the company grew, additional warehousing was needed to store our product. In 1952 additional ground was purchased at 17th and Spruce Street in Wilmington, Delaware. New offices were built at this same site. The addition of Schaefer beer provided rapid growth through the 1950s. In 1960, a milestone was reached when N.K.S. Distributors was awarded the Anheuser-Busch franchise.Additional success through hard work by our group of dedicated employees resulted in sustained growth through the 1960s. In 1969, N.K.S was relocated to Century Park on New Churchmans Road. As N.K.S. grew to be the largest beer wholesaler in the State of Delaware, additional space was needed. In May of 1983, a 60, 000 sq. ft. modern state of the art warehouse was built for the distribution of our beers. In 1990, N.K.S. combined offices with our existing warehouse in New Castle and this location still serves as our corporate headquarters today.In 1960, the first Milford, Delaware Branch was opened. In 1965 it moved to Rt. 113, which served as home until 1981 when a third expansion was completed at its present location.Our family business philosophy of "making friends is our business" continues today.
