Established in 1957, ASPIRO is a private, nonprofit organization that serves children and adults with cognitive disabilities in northeastern Wisconsin. The organization serves more than 1,200 individuals annually. It assists individuals in selecting jobs on the basis of abilities. The organization conducts classes in industrial arts, cooking, music, computer education, world studies, current events, and arts and crafts. ASPIRO offers opportunities for shopping, camping, swimming and boating. The organization organizes musical concerts, picnics and field trips to museums. Its early intervention program includes speech, occupational and physical therapies for children up to 3 years of age. The organization provides psychometric testing, situational assessment and vocational evaluation services for determining individual vocational objectives, assets, limitations and behaviors. It additionally offers manufacturing and packaging services for a range of local and national companies and federal, state and local governments. ASPIRO maintains a presence in Green Bay, Wis.
