The Illinois Tollway dates back to the 1950s. Based in Downers Grove, the tollway office seeks to promote a safe, efficient highway system and deliver a high degree of service to tollway customers. The tollway is governed by an 11-member board chaired by Paula Wolff, which includes ex-officio members Gov. Pat Quinn and Illinois Secretary of Transportation Gary Hannig. The board meets the last Thursday of each month, except for November and December, when it meets a week earlier.
