The Washoe County Sheriffs Office provides law enforcement services for the unincorporated area of Washoe County. We also are responsible for operating the only adult detention facility for pretrial detainees and sentenced misdemeanants within Washoe County. The Agency has an authorized strength of 434 commissioned and 334 civilian. We also have 17 active Reserve Deputy Sheriff and a volunteer corps of 842 persons. The Sheriffs Office has an annual operating budget of $89 M and has been awarded grants in the amount of $11M.The department is divided into three Bureaus. While each Bureau has a unique function, they impact the functioning of the other Bureaus. The Administrative Bureau, under Undersheriff Todd Vinger, includes Fiscal Compliance, Background Investigations, Training, Fleet Services, Research and Development, Records Section, the Office of Professional Integrity, legal consultation, Forensic Science Lab, Public Information Officer and oversight of the Regional Public Safety Training Center.The Detention Bureau, under Assistant Sheriff Lisa Haney, includes the administration of the jail facility, administration of alternative sentencing programs, coordination and administration of inmate programs, transportation of inmates to court and medical appointments, court security and commissary services for inmates.The Operations Bureau, under Assistant Sheriff Marshall Emerson, includes Patrol, Detectives and Special Operations Division.For more detailed information about the Agency, click on the individual Divisions or the State of the Sheriffs Office Report
