The Carroll County Bureau of Facilities is the general contractor of the county overseeing more than 6,000 acres and 40 buildings and related structures within the county. The bureau consists of a professional staff with a wide range of skills. Full-service maintenance is provided for air conditioning, heating, plumbing and electrical systems. Custodial services are provided by private contractors with the exception of the County Office Building, which is performed in-house. The bureau has been involved in three large additions and renovations to the County Office Building. The reconstruction of the new Storage/Concession Building at Sandymount Park, along with a new electrical service, was completed by the staff. The bureau also remodeled and created new offices in the human services area at the Citizen Services Complex. The third project was the creation of new offices for the Election Board at the Multi-Service Building. The bureau recently entered into an energy performance contract with Johnson Controls. This contract will provide an overall approach to improve the infrastructure of the countys facilities, along with reducing both energy and operational expenditures.
