Allen County Highway provides maintenance and preservation services for public roadways, more than 330 bridges, over 600 culverts, signs, traffic signals, pavement markings, drainage structures, and side ditches along county roads. It offers a wide range of programs, such as road conversion program, bridge maintenance program, concrete and pavement repair program, capitol improvement, drainage and dust control programs, snow and ice control program, and traffic control program. The highway department is operated from three different locations, including the central office that houses the administration, and engineering divisions, and oversees the departments budget and administers various maintenance and construction programs. Its north and south maintenance facilities handle the day-to-day maintenance of roads, such as berming, patching, mowing, grading, brush cutting, and snow and ice removal. The department is headquartered at Fort Wayne, Ind.
