The Haywood County Solid Waste Management Department operates more than 10 collection convenience centers, materials recovery facility and the White Oak Landfill. Its collection convenience centers collect household waste plus recyclables, such as aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles and jugs, corrugated and household cardboard boxes, and catalogs, magazines, newspapers, telephone books, mail and other paper products, including grocery bags. The department also accepts various materials at its materials recovery facilities that include residential trash, commercial and industrial waste, appliances, furniture, carpet, and mattresses and bedsprings. In addition, the Haywood County Solid Waste Management Department collects tires, lead-acid batteries and antifreeze products. It is located in Clyde, N.C.
