Located in a building that was once a covenant of Incarnation Catholic Church, The Center for Performing Arts became an arts center in 1995. Currently the center offers numerous youth and adult dance classes. Students can take piano, cello, guitar, percussion and strings lessons. There are a number of health arts practitioners in the building who offer classes in Tai Chi, body work, yoga, movement integration and more. The Center for Performing Arts also rents space to artists for rehearsal.
On the north side of the building, The Center for Performing Arts is home to the Kingfield Community Garden, where 35 people from the surrounding area garden the 12 raised beds.
Lions Park offers the usual amenities you'd find at a neighborhood park, but one thing that stands out about this park is its vast open spaces. People use the open spaces for soccer, games of catch, or just lounging around in the sun. Other things offered at Lions Park include walkways and trails, playground equipment, grills, a basketball court, two tennis courts, four softball fields, a soccer field, game squares, skating rinks in the winter for hockey and general use, and a warming house. The park also offers two parking lots -- one with 76 spaces, the other with 66 spaces.
St. Philip the Deacon can be found 2 miles west of 494 on County Road Six, and one block east of Highway 101. The mission of this church is “Reach out" to all God’s people. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to participate in the life of this faith community. Several services are held in both traditional and more contemporary formats.
Golden Valley Lutheran Church can be found at the corner of Glenwood Avenue and Turners Crossroad. Since 1946, the majestic church has been opening its doors to the community with a goal of "touching lives with Jesus' love." Worship occurs every Sunday, but when services are not taking place, the church is used as a center for early learning and also serves as a meeting place for children and family ministry programs. Members of the congregation often go out into the community to perform service projects.
St. Stephen's Episcopal Church is the largest Episcopal church in Minnesota. There are four worship services on Sundays ranging from contemplative to contemporary. St. Stephen's Episcopal Church has a nursery that is available on Sundays from 7:45am until 12:30pm as well as Wednesdays from 6:20pm to 9pm and Thursdays from 9:30am to 11:15am during church activities. Parking for the church is available in the lots of Wooddale and Utley Parks as well as along Wooddale Avenue.
St. Joan of Arc Church is a Christian community that is committed to celebrating the word of God. Since 1969, it has been a welcoming environment featuring wonderful music and inspiring guest speakers. Services are held throughout the week and there are religious education programs and ministries for individuals of all ages.
World Relief Minnesota is located in the MN Evangelical Center building, along with three other nonprofit organizations. World Relief works in conjunction with the local church to resettle refugees and transform them economically, socially and spiritually. It offers citizenship and ESL classes, employment services, resettlement and legal services.
