Newly renovated Back Creek Nature Park, situated on a small creek that runs into the Chesapeake Bay, is a great spot for both exploration and education. Mainly, the park is home to the Osprey Nature Center, which offers nature education programs for all ages. The center even has a green roof with live plants and teachers can schedule class field trips by contacting The City of Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department. Meanwhile, the park itself has nature trails, picnic tables, benches, bike racks and a pier for kayaks and canoes.

The Boys & Girls Club at Wiley H. Bates Heritage Park is the national organization's flagship location in Anne Arundel County. The club is open every day and services all children in the community with low cost memberships of $20 per year. First built in 1956 but a part of the community much earlier than that, St. Luke's Episcopal Church serves a congregation of about 120 members. Following the retirement of its recent rector, the church is currently in transition and looking for a replacement. Church members are active in many local mission projects, including providing bag lunches to the Light House Shelter each Sunday and serving as the distribution site for the food pantry on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The church also sponsors a local cub scout troop, which meets on its premises each Thursday.

The church offers two services on Sunday mornings; a casual, contemporary service at 9am and a more traditional worship opportunity at 11am. Eastport United Methodist Church is a small church with a big impact on the community. Under the leadership of Rev. MaAn Barcello, the church has an active membership of about 120 members. It is involved in several major ministries and each winter, it houses 20 - 30 homeless men for one week so they have a safe and warm place to stay. On the third Wednesday of each month, the church also supplies food from the Anne Arundel County Food Bank to needy families in the community. Each August, the church draws a large crowd to its Peach Festival, which is a fundraiser that is open to anyone in the community who buys a ticket. It features a bake sale and sit-down dinner. Church members served about 650 dinners at the festival this past year.
