The Goodwill store and donation center in North Hollywood is a large facility that houses donated goods that it sells to support its humanitarian efforts. There is a large selection of furniture and housewares fit for a first apartment owner or dorm room. There are rows of apparel for women, men and children, including lightly worn to brand new merchandise. It also has a large selection of ladies handbags, shoes, belts and gloves. Donations are accepted in-store.
A private religious educational institution, GVCA is organized for kindergarten through ninth grade. The Academy provides, stated a spokesperson, "high academic standards in a safe and disciplined atmosphere." There are many electives available as well, including Spanish, choir and drama. Students may participate in a variety of sports. The Academy fields teams that compete in the Sacramento-based Parochial Athletic League (PAL).
It is a very structured educational environment, with a lot of rules, designed to encourage students to always honor authority, to be polite, productive, prompt and prepared," said the spokesman.
The Chamber of Commerce serves many functions within the Fair Oaks community. Its services are funded by membership investment dues, special fundraising projects and publication sales.
The Chamber is, for all intents and purposes, the Fair Oaks board of supervisors, with many of its members serving roles as honorary mayors, county special events coordinators among many others. The Chamber also sponsors many events throughout the year.
Christ The King Church offers weekday masses, confession and reconciliation, and a Sunday Vigil Mass. It provides baptism and religious education for small children, as well as a liturgy committee and vacation Bible camp.
The church also has many of its homilies and sermons available on audio tape and compact disc. In addition, Christ The King Church offers communal penance service for the congregation in the days between Advent and Lent.
This small mosque tucked above offices in downtown Livermore has served Muslim families since 1994. With a full-time imam, it offers the five daily prayers, Arabic and Islamic classes for children, study groups for women and interfaith and community initiatives. Religious-school classes are held on Sundays, rather than the traditional Islamic Fridays, in accord with the American work and school week.
Grace Bible Church proclaims that its house of worship promotes "changed lives [that are] glorifying Christ". The church is committed to nurturing its members and spreading the word of God through its services and programs. The church offers child care during its services. The CK-12 Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a unique mission: to create online collaborative environment for the production of free digital textbooks, which they call flexbooks. The organization is working to ensure the books meet curriculum guidelines and can be customized to individual needs.
The YMCA is located inside of Don Juan Avila Elementary School. The YMCA is one of the oldest and largest young mens' organizations in the world. It focuses on building and empowering young men through group activities, community work, sports, leadership roles and more. The YMCA works hard to eliminate racism and foster equality across the planet. They offer a friendly place for discussion and development. Parking is located in the main school parking lot.
St. Paul's Lutheran Church offers 11:00am Sunday services and 9:30am junior church services. The church offers a range of ministries and activities for adults and children.
Parents Place Family Resource Center is a program for Jewish families and childrens services in the Palo Alto area. It provides programs for kids as well as parenting classes for adults.
The Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce is comprised of 1,100 members. The chamber has a five star accredited rating, one of only two in the state, and often puts on networking events, produces a newsletter, and represents the interest of local businesses to legislators. The chamber aims to create a strong local economy through these efforts.
