Located in Albany, Ga., the Sewer Division works under the Albany Public Works Department. It works to monitor, collect, convey, treat and dispose the wastewater in an environmentally sound and safe manner. The division is comprised of wastewater sampling and sewer maintenance sections. The Sewer Division is responsible for the maintenance of sanitary and storm sewers and the operation of waste water treatment plants and lift stations. The division utilizes safe physical and biological treatment of sewage and proper disinfection of the final effluent prior to its discharge into the receiving stream. Albany Transit System provides a wide range of operations services, including regular route bus transit services, handling employee relations, including recruiting, training and payroll administration, and administration of drug and alcohol policy.

Water, Gas and Light Commission is governed by the city of Albany, Ga. The commission was founded in 1892 and provides water, gas and light services. It serves more than 27,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers with natural gas. It provides services 24 hours, seven days a week. The commission s electric power system has nearly 600 miles of power lines and allocates hydroelectric power through Southeastern Power Administration and Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia.
