The Bridge Church of the Nazarene, formerly known as Valley Stream Church of the Nazarene, was founded in 1950. The congregation worshiped for 50 years in an A-frame property in Valley Stream, but by 2000, it became apparent that the congregation had outgrown its small church. It launched a capital campaign, sold the property in 2004, and began leasing space at Molloy College in Rockville Centre to hold services while they looked for a future home. In the fall of 2010, the church purchased the Malverne Jewish Center and after extensive renovations began occupying the space and hosting public worship services. (The church leases a portion of the space to the Malverne Jewish Center.) The church will, over the next two years, undergo many renovations so that the entire building will be available for use and host a Family Life Center.

The Bridge worships on Sundays, but devotes its time during the week to spiritual growth and development, community service and local, regional and global missionary projects.

The Church of Haile Selassie is an Ethiopian theology that teaches of Jaweh manifested in the trinity known as Emperor Hallie Selassie. Contrary to popular mytholgy around Rastafarianism this complex and serious religion in this divinity finds its roots long ago in Africa. This church is modest in size but claims its following is wide. The brightly colored exterior adds distinct cultural flavor to Bed-Stuy.
