Heights Christian Church is a religious institution in Shaker Heights that offers worship services and ministries for adults, children and youths. Adult Bible study classes are held after the Time of Fellowship and last approximately an hour; these classes examine four scripture passages in each session. Heights Christian Church also manages the Elegant Flea Thrift Store, which offers clothing, household/decorative items, books and more.
Proudly nestled in a white building in the heart of Kent located at 319 S. Depeyster St., is the Kent church of Christ. Friendly, safe and handicapped accessible, come today to receive worship, fellowship and offer praise. Sunday Bible Study is available at 9:45am, Sunday morning worship at 10:45am, Sunday evening worship at 6pm, as well as a Wednesday Bible Study for parishioners at 7:30pm. All are always welcome.
The Disciples Christian Church, on Mayfield Road, can trace its roots all the way back to 1843 at its old location on Euclid Avenue in East Cleveland. Today the church offers a variety of services to the community and holds Sunday worship services at 9am, 10am and 11am. Ministries are available for children and adults, including a group youth trip to Chautauqua, New York, and adult mission trips to New Orleans. The Disciples Christian Church donates to the Heights Emergency Food Center and is a member of the Interfaith Hospitality Network.
It was back in the early 1940s when the first meeting of the Cuyahoga Falls Church of Christ was held. The church had many homes before the congregation leaders devised a plan to build a new facility in the 1960s, which is the current building off of Chestnut Boulevard. Since that time, the building has seen new additions and growing membership.
The Church of Christ is a non-denominational church with services at 10:30am and 6pm on Sunday, as well as Bible study at 7pm on Wednesday. The pastor at the Church of Christ is Marc Addison. The church runs a food bank that is open from 9 to 11am on Wednesdays and Fridays. Members of the church also started the Love Bear program. They make and decorate bears, which are then given to children in hospitals and soldiers.
