Since 1929, the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle has been providing programming for kids ages 6-18 in New Rochelle. The New Rochelle site offers an array of programs to engage the local youth. The New Rochelle Humane Society is a private, not-for-profit organization that has been a staple in New Rochelle since 1911. Because it does not receive any federal or state funding, the center relies on a host of volunteers and donors.

Together, they rescue more than 500 dogs and 900 cats per year.

Dedicated volunteers are committed to providing care for lost, abandoned, injured and mistreated animals. The shelter and adoption center serves 17 communities in Westchester County.

Cats and dogs are routinely available for adoption. The adoption fee is $90 (cats) and $150 (dogs). The center offers low-cost spay and neuter certificates that can be used at local vets. 

Volunteers are always needed to socialize pets, take in foster animals, clean up around the shelter and more. To volunteer or donate, please check the website to see what is currently needed.

United Community of Westchester is a not-for-profit that helps people to access the resources and services that they need to live full lives. Its services include, but are not limited to, teaching English, helping on job searches, health insurance enrollment and tax preparation. Case managers are available to assist individuals and families with their needs and goals. The staff provides services in both English and Spanish and offers document translation services. A notary is also on-site. United Community of Westchester welcomes people of all languages, ethnicities and religions.
