Although it is located on the university's campus, the College of the Desert Alumni Association is a separate organization, which is independent of the college. The association hosts an annual street fair that is designed to raise funds for the College of the Desert. The street fair includes 340 vendors offering new merchandise, food, arts and crafts, and a farmers market. The funds raised by the COD Alumni Association throughout the weekend street fair goes toward student scholarships and financial aid. On average $270,000 is raised from the Street Fair, which also goes to other college programs and projects.
