Springfield Symphony Orchestra The Springfield Symphony Orchestra ( SSO ) was founded in 1943 by Edwin Juergens, William Minnick and William Fiedler, the organizations first conductor. The first complete concert was performed in 1944 at Central Methodist Church in Springfield. In addition to William Fiedler, the SSO has been under the musical direction of seven leaders: Walter Heermann from 1946-1948 ; Guy Taylor from 1948-1951 ; Evan Whallon from 1951-1957 ; Jackson Wiley from 1957-1970 ; Robert Gutter from 1970-1972 ; John E. Ferritto from 1972-2001 ; and current Music Director and Conductor, Peter Stafford Wilson. The SSO performed in Springfields Memorial Hall from 1944-1985. For the 1985-86 Season, the SSO moved to the North High School Auditorium. During the Symphonys 50th anniversary season ( 1993-94 ), it gave its first performance in the Kuss Auditorium for the Gala Opening on November 6, 1993. In 1950, the SSO presented the first Concerts for Young People. Today, students from Clark, Greene, Champaign, and Madison counties are bused to Clark State Performing Arts Centers Kuss Auditorium for performances. These concerts are often the childrens first exposure to symphonic music.

The Western Reserve Historical Society, a not-for-profit educational institution and museum based in University Circle, was founded in 1867 to preserve and promote the history of the people of northeast Ohio. It is the largest privately supported regional historical society in the nation and serves as an educational resource for students, the general public and scholars. The museum store, Past & Presents, offers books, t-shirts, souvenirs and other items that celebrate the history and culture of the region.

Halena Cline lives in Northern Kentucky and has worked as a studio artist most of her adult life. She has a studio at the Pendleton Art Center in Cincinnati, Ohio since 1990. Halenas work is known nationally and is held in many national and international collections. She produces works by using mediums that are experimental as well as those that are more tradtional; used in creative ways. She also incorporates mediums acquired through attending art conferences and by experiencing methods and techniques she has acquired in her travels and cultural encounters. Halena maintains a dedication in her works to childrens and womens issues and those that are vulnerable in todays society. She believes that art education is vital in the classroom and has participated in many lecturing opportunities at her alma mater of Northern Kentucky University as well as the University of Cincinnati, the Contemporary Art Center and the Cincinnati Taft Museum.
