Old Salem Museums & Gardens employs more than 200 people and operates over four museums, retail department, book publishing arm, research center and nearly 10 gardens. The museum also rents its site for special events, including weddings. Its gift shop offers books, paper products, historic maps and toys. The museum s research center has a collection of more than 75,000 files that provides opportunities to learn about objects, lifestyles and beliefs of people living in the early South. Its library includes more than 20,000 rare books, periodicals and manuscripts. The museum also organizes events, such as book signings, furniture seminars, holiday activities, Halloween and garden events. Located in Winston Salem, N.C., and founded in 1950, the museum s toy center provides more than 1,200 European and American toys, including ships, marbles, games, puzzles, cars, trains, dolls and puppets.

Hampton House Gallery is a family business started in 1977 that fills a niche in the local and regional art and framing market. We are a full service art gallery and custom framing operation with two locations, one in Winston-Salem and one in King, North Carolina. Over the years, we have focused on education and current marketplace trends. This is reflected in our framing practices as well as our art. We attempt to meet the needs of our clientele on every level.

Artworks Gallery is an artist-run cooperative gallery located in Winston-Salems downtown art district since 1984. The Gallery is committed to offering local artists of all media a creative and responsive environment in which to exhibit and sell their work. There are usually from twenty to twenty-five members.The Gallery is located in a large and versatile exhibition space in the Ron Propst Studio Building which is on the corner of Trade and Sixth streets and includes the studios and shops of painters, potters, photographers, calligraphers, and sculptors.Artworks Gallery provides increased exposure for each artist members work, networking with other artists, and an opportunity for the artist members to learn skills involved in running a gallery.The Gallery exhibits individual and group shows of its members work every five to six weeks throughout the year, which are free and open to the public.Artworks Gallery controls all policies concerning the management of the gallery. Monthly meetings are held to discuss the direction of the gallery and to exchange information and ideas. Prospective members are juried by the current membership at its monthly meetings. The Gallery takes a commission, determined by the membership, on all work sold through the gallery, and the artists have control of the number of works exhibited and their installation.Volunteers are a vital part of Artworks.
