Ursel Shaffer and her staff can provide on-site, custom framing using museum-quality, acid-free archival matting and backing boards and a choice of glazing materials, including ones that reduce glare and protect artwork by filtering out ultraviolet light. Urel's Web has been in business in Middletown since 1980 and they can frame almost anything: prints, paintings, photographs, needlepoint, memorabilia and family heirlooms. Free estimates are available. A gallery displays prints, paintings, photographs and other works by local artists. A native of Germany, Ursel's other offerings reflect her origins. She sells intricate, blown-glass ornaments, mobiles and carved wooden music boxes handmade by German artists. Check out the "smokemen," incense burners carved in the shapes of men and women that are a Christmas tradition in Germany. Also wooden nutcrackers, hand- painted Bavarian pewter, Belgian snow globes and intricate butterflies and other figures done in Chinese cloisonee.
