Established in 1982, Options for Community Living is a social services and welfare organization that provides housing and support services to more than 1,000 homeless and mentally challenged individuals in Smithtown, N.Y. It is a private and nonprofit community resource. Options for Community Living provides housing and assistance for homeless families through a contract with the Suffolk County Department of Social Services. It provides services to individuals challenged by severe and persistent mental illness. The center offers services to homeless families in long-term poverty and crisis situations. Options for Community Living also provides services to individuals and families living with HIV and AIDS.
