The mission of the Greenwich Boat and Yacht Club hasn't changed since its founding in 1938. To this day, the club actively promotes yachting and boating by maintaining related facilities for members and supporting the development of boating and harbor facilities in the town. About 285 members belong to the club, which is located on Grass Island on the banks of Greenwich Harbor.The GBYC sponsors the Greenwich High School Sailing team and serves as the meeting location for the Captain Harbor Power and Sail Squadron.The town-owned clubhouse can accommodate 180 people and is available for rental to GBYC members who have been active at least six months and only during off-boating season of November 1 through May 15. Membership applications are available on the GBYC website and at the clubhouse.
