The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police office, located on Latrobe Drive in Charlotte, N.C., is the Providence Division for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The Providence Division, also known as Baker One, provides law enforcement services for nearly 16 square miles of historic and established communities, including Myers Park, Cotswold, Grier Heights, Cherry and the South Park area of Charlotte. The division is comprised of 70 officers, nine sergeants, one captain and an investigative technician. Providence Division is divided into three response areas. The district also has operating units of street crimes and community coordinators, as well as a full-time bike unit. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is the largest local law enforcement agency between Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. The department provides law enforcement services to more than 650,000 residents in the greater Charlotte area.
