Established in 1954, the University of Virginias College at Wise, Va., is a public liberal arts college. It offers bachelor s degrees in arts, science and nursing. It provides preprofessional programs in dentistry, forestry, law, medicine, physical therapy and veterinary medicine. Its four-year program develops professional goals, job-seeking skills and graduate and professional school preparation. The program includes jobtrak access, workshops, individual counseling, experiential learning, on-campus interviews, access to services and programs of the University of Virginia, part-time jobs while in college and alumni mentorship. It has more than 50 student organizations, including fraternities and sororities. It is a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Mid-South Conference. It offers financial assistance, including federal and state grants, scholarships, student loans and college employment.
