A town meeting created the Department of Finance and the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 1996. Mary Ellen Kelley is the current CFO. The CFO reports directly to the Town Manager. She oversees the departments of accounting, assessing, and treasurer/collector. The department was created to "provideoverall management and administration of the town's financial operations and services."
