The Town of Oyster Bay'sgovernmental body provides public services, enforces regulations and maintains parks, beaches andrecreational sites. It also operates the Old Bethpage Community Center and the town park on Washington Avenue. The sprawling township stretches from the shores of Long Island Sound southward to the Atlantic Ocean and borders Suffolk County to the east and Hempstead and North Hempstead to the west. Oyster Bay is home to about 300,000 people, according to the 2000 census. Its land mass is 170 square miles. The town's current supervisor is John Venditto.
