Barrister Winery specializes in the production of limited quantities of Bordeaux varietal wines and Syrah. We will release approximately 3, 100 cases in 2010. In addition, we will produce about 250 cases of white wines. Our wines are sold at the winery, through our mailing list and online.A number of the regions finest restaurants and wine shops are also offering our wines to their customers. See the "Find Our Wines" link for a representative listing of restaurants and shops in Washington and north Idaho that carry our wines.Founded in a garage by Greg Lipsker and Michael White, two attorney/winemakers, Barrister Winery is now located in a 100-year-old brick building in the historic Davenport Arts District in downtown Spokane, Washington. In the fall of 1997, we bought a 5-gallon home-winemaking kit as a whim while vacationing with our families. Since then, winemaking has become the "little hobby" that got out of control. In 2001, we took the quantum leap from home winemaking to becoming a bonded winery. Initially producing only red wine, we have ventured into small quantities of white, but reds are our specialty. Our grapes come from some of Washingtons most prestigious vineyards ( and a couple of sleepers ). Our grapes are all hand picked, fermented in small lots and barrel-aged in French and American Oak for 16 to 36 months.

As you might expect, brothers Jack and William Salerno have a long personal and professional history together. However, theyve been turning grapes into amazingly exciting wine for a relatively short time.Working in the construction and painting trades for years would seem an odd, if not discordant background for a career in the wine business. Yet the skills they acquired in past incarnations, precision, perseverance and risk taking tempered these brothers well for their latest and perhaps most significant success. How else do you explain their accomplishments? In just their second year of commercial production, the brothers Salerno created a wine that made the San Francisco Chronicles top 100 list. Many winemakers with much more formal training and years in the cellar have not achieved that prominence so quickly, if at all."We read some textbooks on winemaking, " says Jack, "then threw them away." Orthodoxy is not their style. Book knowledge only goes so far. With a sound - though self-taught - background in winemaking under their construction belts and an intense passion that rivals any in the wine business, the Salernos sought to create their own winemaking style.Manzanita Creek, a label of the Salerno Healdsburg Estate Winery, D.O.M., are some of the best boutique wines being produced today, arguably by two of the most stubborn and passionate winemakers in Sonoma County.Manzanita Creek makes its home in Healdsburg the heart of the northwest Sonoma County wine country. But unlike the Tuscan and Chateau wineries of the region that are surrounded by pristine vineyards, Manzanita Creek can be found in a light industrial center, hence the tag line, Great Wines...No Scenery...Never Boring. The small quantity of award winning boutique wines made by William and Jack Salerno are extraordinary: "Tasting is believing". The Manzanita Creek Wines: Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah are made from the best grapes - grown in the best vineyards - that Sonoma County has to offer.Should you find yourself in the town of Healdsburg, California, stop by Manzanita Creek Winery, the winery where whats in the bottle is "NEVER BORING". If you are shopping for extreme wines, we encourage you to try our wines, you will not be disappointed, Jack and William Salerno love their work and it shows.

Situated among corn fields and tomato patches this charming, family-owned winery operates along Highway 113, not far from downtown Dixon, and offers a wide variety of fine wines that are made by vintner Jess Jones.

Jones and his wife, Mel, began growing grapes in 1997 and primarily sold them to winemakers. In 2000, Jess Jones, who studied winemaking at U.C. Davis, made his first wines from grapes he grows on three acres of his land.

Jones' first wines were Merlot and Cabernet. In 2004, Jones began producing his wines and today offers Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon along with two dessert wines and two ports.

Anyone traveling along Highway 113 can easily find the winery because of the many signs along the highway that lead wine lovers to it.

The tasting room is not pretentious although decorated with many news articles and accolades garnered by the winery. A large stuffed moose head and other critters overlook the tasting room and bar area.

Owners Jess and Mel Jones host many gatherings at the winery, including hosting the Dixon Chamber of Commerce, and hold several weddings, class reunions and functions. The winery welcomes any group who wishes to rent it out for the day and those who wish to bottle their own wines!

The winery also offers a wine club that's free to join.

Markham Vineyards rest on over 350 acres of land. The winery produces over 20,000 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and a blended red. The vineyard hosts private parties and events.

Willamette Valley Vineyards makes Burgundian variety wines. In 1983, the vineyards founders cleared a plum orchard and planted Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Pinot gris grapes. The vineyard is located on 50 acres in the heart of the Willamette Valley mountain range on south and southwest slopes at 500 to 750 feet in elevation, which provides optimal summer sun and air circulation. Yields are low, with the Estate Pinot Noir purposely limited to 1.75 tons per acre. The winery produces Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gew rztraminer and Frizzante vintages. The vineyard s stylistic emphasis is on pure varietal fruit characters with attention to depth, richness and balance. Wine Enthusiast magazine named it One of Americas Great Pinot Noir Producers. The company purchased its second vineyard, the Tualatin Estate, in 1997. It is one of Oregons oldest and most respected vineyards. Willamette Valley Vineyards winery is located in Turner, Ore.
