Our staff includes a growing team of highly-talented designers who embrace the concept that interior design is an exchange of creative ideas that spark discussion to express the homeowners personal aesthetic. Tom Sfisco, the owner and creative director of The Design Studio of Somerville, has been creating beautiful interiors for more than twenty years. What began as a hobby and creative outlet has evolved into a signature brand style that now encompasses all facets of home design. A desire to blend form and function with high-end style is what lead Tom to open The Design Studio in 1990. His belief is that most people know what they want their homes to look like, but simply need the input of a professional designer to express their creative ideas. Toms career began in college where he pursued a business degree while managing a designer mens fashion boutique. From there, he transitioned to interior design, focusing on window treatments that enhance the furniture, pictures, and memories found within each room of the home. As his business grew, Tom naturally branched out into furnishings, fabrics and patterns, and all interior design elements, large and small. Toms work has been featured on the TLC Network television program "Baby Story, " for which he designed an adorable nursery. He has also had the pleasure of working with Doris Duke and her butler Bernard Lafferty in designing interiors for the famous Duke Estate in Hillsborough, NJ. His personal home kitchen will soon be featured in Better Homes and Gardens. Cynthia Stabile has been with The Design Studio of Somerville for more than 13 years and has studied at the New York School of Interior Design. Her approach is to develop a strong rapport with her clients in order to understand their lifestyle and their design goals. Cynthia possesses a vast knowledge of window treatments as well as all of the furniture lines, artwork, accessories, and every other aspect that goes into making a space the most important, the most comforting, and the most special place a client has. Gail Weber has been with The Design Studio of Somerville since 2001. Gail is our senior buyer, specializing in unique accessories. Her keen sense of style is evident in the design or our showroom and in her clients homes. Her philosophy is that a home should be practical as well as beautiful.
