The DeLiso family founded Pioneer Valley Refrigerated Warehouse in 1947. Initially serving the demands of the frozen food industry, the company has expanded to offer a numerous programs for managing distribution of food products. Its main location in Chicopee, Mass., enables Pioneer to serve the food industry infrastructure in New England. Also known as Pioneer Cold, the company has a combined warehousing space totaling more than 11 million cubic feet, providing enough space for more than 30,000 pallets. Most cooling units are freezers designed to store frozen foods at temperatures as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Other units are capable of quickly freezing foods down to temperatures of 60 F. Pioneer Valley s facility in Chicopee features a 12,000-square-foot refrigerated dock for assembling or receiving orders in an environment maintained at 34 degrees. Pioneer Valley Refrigerated Warehouse is staffed 24 hours a day and routinely handles corned beef, turkeys, cranberries, ice cream and cheese, among other products.
