American Youth Hostels Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1934. It is the American member of Hostelling International. It offers inexpensive temporary lodgings around the world for youth travelers. Generally, the rooms are dormitory-style and are shared with other travelling guests. It is also commonly known as HI-USA, and its intent was to offer youth a chance to learn of the world and its people in a hostelling environment. The location in Santa Monica offers a caring staff of individuals who realize its guests are dependent upon them to offer a fun and safe stay while away from home.
