The First Congregational Church of Downers Grove is an open and affirming church that offers a multitude of socially active programs. It hosts a PADS program for the homeless, participates in missionary trips and sponsors a Walk-in Ministry of Hope, among other programs. A member of the United Church of Christ, the congregation prides itself on being very musical.
It is also the site of the Two Way Street Coffeehouse, an open and inviting music and entertainment venue for all ages. The coffeehouse, established in 1970, books folk singers, sponsors teen open mike nights and features open poetry readings and other artistic endeavors.
