Triple Crown Services offers door-to-door truckload service featuring the RoadRailer trailer. The RoadRailer trailer can go anywhere and do anything a conventional trailer can, plus it has the capability of riding directly on the rail. RoadRailer trailers are equipped with independent air-ride running gear for both highway and rail travel. In the Triple Crown distribution system, truckload freight is picked up from shippers and driven to one of the company s 13 terminals where the trailers are set on railroad wheels. The assembled trains then travel to the destination terminals where the trailers are hooked to tractors to complete the delivery. The Triple Crown fleet consists of more than 7,000 RoadRailer trailers, which operate from terminals throughout the eastern half of the United States, including one in Fort Wayne, Ind.
