The Steamship Authority is a public organization created by the Massachusetts legislature that provides transportation for residents and commuters in Martha's Vineyard. The department maintains a fleet of boats and offers transportation to ports in Woods Hole, Hyannis, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Boats include the Iyanough, an aluminum catamaran, the Island Home, the Martha’s Vineyard, a passenger/vehicle ferry, the Eagle, which has an upper deck satellite TV lounge and the Sankaty, which has free Internet access.
The Island House is both a restaurant and hotel. The dining room also converts into a bar and dance floor for late-night reveling.

Budget Rent-A-Car in Oak Bluffs is one of three Budget outlets on the Vineyard. It is located less than 100 yards from the ferry terminal. This outlet is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Private parties have also reserved it as a starting place for hors d'oeuvres and cocktails before moving their celebrations downstairs to the function hall/meeting room.

This small bed and breakfast is located within walking distance of Vineyardhaven. The property, which was renovated in 2010 and which is now under new management, receives high marks from previous visitors. Stays include full breakfast in the dining room or continental breakfast in bed.
Thorncroft also offers a small cottage, which is the most popular romantic accommodation. The rates for all rooms range seasonally from $195 - $495 per night. The inn does not accomodate children or pets, and enforces a completely non-smoking policy.
