This pocket park of just under four acres is a little gem, offering trails and open space. Situated up on the hill, off 74th Avenue Southeast, it is a perfect place for quiet and brisk walks.
Located at the corner of Island Crest and 40th Street, not far from the hustle and bustle of the downtown, is a small but elegant park featuring quiet and open space.
The Mercer Island Saddle Club is a cooperative non-profit club supported by the volunteer work of its members. Located on the south end of Mercer Island, the Saddle Club houses a 20-horse barn, a large outdoor arena, a covered arena, a hot water wash rack and two turnout paddocks. Members can board their horse, lease a horse and take riding lessons with independent trainers. The southeast quadrant of Pioneer Park, directly east of the MISC, provides 40 acres of equestrian trails for riders.
Pioneer Park contains the largest forest on the island, covering 113 acres of lush, wooded land, ravines, streams and trails, ideal for hiking, horseback riding, and biking. Some trails are accessible by wheelchairs and strollers. Trails in the northeast quadrant of the park also connect to the Engstrom Open Space area, an 8-acre area of wilderness.
