Wat Rattanavanaram, operating business as the Buddhist temple of Theravada Sect, is a bona fide nonprofit religious organization. The temple is incorporated domestically in the state of South Carolina in the United States on February 15, 2001 and is determined as Exempt Organizations under section 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 on September 4, 2001. The temple is an independent organization which is not affiliated with other Buddhist organizations in terms of law and/or administration. However, the temples Buddhist monks may be invited to participate in the Buddhist activities together with the Buddhist monks from any Buddhist organizations with the same belief and practice both inside and outside the state of South Carolina. Wat Rattanavanaram is the charitable, educational, and religious organization of which principal mission is to promote Buddhism and foster a positive relationship between Buddhism and other religions. Our temple is a not-for-profit religious organization and is recognized as a tax-exempt organization pursuant to Section 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) of the Internal Revenue Code. Since our inception, we have faithfully delivered the original messages of Lord Buddha as reflected in the Tipitaka or Buddhist Scripture to our devotees. We preach Dharma ( Scripture ) and are authorized to speak to and counsel Buddhist disciples upon their individual or collective request, pursuant to the demands of our devotees. We are committed to promoting the Buddhist faith by delivering sermons and teaching Vipassana or Insight meditation to interested devotees and students, and to counsel them carefully throughout the various stages of their practice. The letter in Recognition of Exempt Organizations was originally issued to Wat Rattanavanaram by Internal Revenue Service on September 4, 2001 with Federal ID # 57-1117347. Wat Rattanavanaram is not a subordinate of another religious group and also does not hold group tax exemption. On August 14, 2007, the president of Wat Rattanavanaram filed the amendment of Articles of Incorporation of Wat Rattanavanaram to Secretary of State, State of South Carolina in order to change the agent, officers, and principal office. In early December 2007, the copy of the approved Articles of Amendment was respectively submitted to Internal Revenue Service for updating the profile. Internal Revenue Service approved the request for updating the temples Articles of Amendment on February 11, 2008. 2008.
