Tampa General Hospital is a private, not-for-profit hospital with many specialty units. The hospital holds many certifications in a wide range of health services.
Some of the specialty units include: a Level 1 Trauma Center; Burn Unit (one of four in Florida); Organ Transplant program; Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit; troke Center; Pediatric Intensive Care; and Neonatal Unit. Many of these units have achieved high acclaim from several medical associations. The hospital also has five medical helicopters in which to transfer patients.
The hospital serves as the University of South Florida's main teaching partner for resident students. TGH also serves the community with its many outreach programs. The More Health program presented in most of the public schools in the area; outpatient services; and the KIDCare program, which offers a day care for sick children are three examples of these programs.
Valet service is available at the main entrance. There is a parking garage located on the hospital campus, which accepts cash or credit cards for payment. High-profile vehicles will need to access street parking rather than the garage due to a low clearance.
