Capital Area Community Action Agency, created in 1965, is a private nonprofit agency providing services and advocacy to low-income families in Leon, Gadsden, Gulf, Jefferson, Calhoun, Liberty and Franklin.The agency offers various services, such as Head Start Services, child care and development, child nutrition, child mental health services and disabilities services. It also offers a project share program that provides utility payment and direct deposit assistance for customers. Additionally the agency offers various services and programs that include emergency shelter, community services, direct emergency assistance program, weatherization, temporary emergency assistance program and loans for home ownership. Capital Area Community Action Agency also organizes various events, such as masked ball, housing conferences, annual board dinner, celebrity softball game and housing field trip. The agency is headquartered in Tallahassee, Fla.
