The Brazos River Authority exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin to meet the needs of Texans. Brazos develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality and pursues water conservation through public education programs. The company s notable projects include the North Bosque Watershed Coordination, the Freeport Seawater Desalination Project, the West Central Brazos Water Study and the PK Flood Gate Replacement. The Brazos River Authority was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929, and was the first state agency in the United States created specifically for the purpose of developing and managing the water resources of an entire river basin.

Operational since 1979, the Waco Center for Youth is a part of the Texas Department of State Health Services. The Waco Center for Youth is a psychiatric residential treatment facility that serves children between the ages of 13 and 17 with emotional difficulties and behavioral problems. The center is accredited by The Joint Commission. It offers individual, group and family therapies, as well as coordination and case management services. The center also provides assistance with aftercare planning. In addition, it offers psychology, habilitation, nursing, chaplain and rights protection services.
