Located in Dalton, Ga., the Elbert Shaw Regional Youth Detention Center provides transient care and supervision services for delinquent youths. It serves the health care and behavior modification needs of individuals and families throughout the United States. The center offers guidance, counseling, and medical and dental care services. It also provides clothing, food and educational services. Elbert Shaw Regional Youth Detention Center is operated by the Department of Juvenile Justice, which offers a range of treatment services for youths referred by federal juvenile courts, as well as provides assistance and delinquency prevention services for at-risk youths through collaborative efforts with public, private and community entities.
