The Nipper Maher Park is located on Dartmouth Street, off of South Street. The park features basball fields, a tennis court and basketball court. This field is also used by Waltham High and other little league teams for baseball. There are public restrooms available during baseball season.
The Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth can be found in the Industrial Park across from the Old Colony Place Mall. The club's mission statement is "We instill in our members a sense of belonging, a sense of usefulnes, a sense of competence and a sense of upward influence in their club." Some programs the club sponsors include sports, fitness, nutrition, music, social activity, music photography and so much more. Mariners House is an Inn located in Boston's North End. It offers rooms to active and retired seafarers. Mariners House offers a variety of private rooms with AC and WiFi. The Falmouth Harbor Sailing School is a nonprofit community sailing program, offering summer youth programs, ages 8 to 18 and encourages students to participation in regattas held throughout the summer. Private lessons for adults and/or children may be scheduled weekdays on request. The school operates the last week in June through the third week in August and is housed at The Falmouth Yacht Club.
Waltham Youth Soccer is a community program run by parents and volunteers. Teams are available for children ages 5 - 19. Travel teams meet twice a week and play Saturday games with other towns in the Middlesex league; players are assigned to teams based on try-outs. The in-town teams are grouped by age and practice once a week, with games on weekends in Waltham. There is also the U6 Co-ed Program for the youngest players. Girl Scouts United States has been around since 1912, but the unique Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts was formed in 2008 by a merge of Patriots Trail Girl Scouts, Spar and Spindel Girl Scouts, and Girl Scouts of South Eastern Massachusetts. Together as Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, they believe "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place" and a better community. This great youth group serves 45,000 girls ages 5-17 and 17,000 adult volunteers in the 178 communities in Eastern Massachusetts alone.
Henry's Baseball Club is an amateur baseball team in Waltham. It is open to player ages 17 to 40 who have a love for the game. HBC also offers player development services at the farm, rookie, short season, A, AA and AAA levels. Interested players should call the number provided to speak with Henry Munevar.
The American Legion was chartered by Congress and is the largest veterans service organization in the country. Post 40 is located in Plymouth and is temporarily closed for the winter as its members complete work on the flood-damaged building. It is projected to re-open in the spring of 2011.
