MercyFirst is one of New York's leading not-for-profit human service agencies serving more than 4,000 children, teenagers and families each year in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Founded by the Sisters of Mercy as sister orphanages, Angel Guardian Home in Brooklyn and St. Mary's of the Angels Home in Syosset, we have provided hope and refuge to children who had little else since the late 1800s. Today we are a multi-service agency offering a comprehensive and integrated continuum of care through a network of more than 20 service locations in New York City and throughout Long Island.

Variety Child Learning Center, founded in 1966 and located in Syosset, N.Y., is a nonprofit center providing child development programs and special education services to young children and their families. It offers services to children with learning disabilities, autism, developmental disorders and behavior problems. The organization provides special education programs and services at no cost to families living in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties in New York. It also offers support services for families, and research and training of early childhood personnel. VCLC provides special programs and services on- and off-site. It offers programs in local nursery schools, child care centers and school districts. It additionally offers Sunday respite care, social skills training groups, cultural arts performances, and applied research and training for early childhood personnel.
