Located in San Francisco, Newcomer High School provides a one-year transitional educational program for newly arrived immigrant high school-aged students who need to learn English and become familiar with their new social and cultural environment. The school offers the English as a Second Language program. It also provides bilingual core academic courses in Chinese and Spanish. Newcomer High School also offers academic classes in sheltered English to native speakers of other languages. The school serves more than 200 students in grades 9 through 12. Its academic curriculum includes math, science and social studies. Newcomer High School is a part of the San Francisco Unified School District.

For over 50 years, The Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California is a merger of the Hearing Society for the Bay Area and the San Francisco Hearing and Speech Center. The center is a nonprofit agency providing professional services to support all people with hearing disabilities. Based in San Francisco, Calif., the three agencies together have served the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing, enhancing speech and language skills. Its services include professional audiology, counseling, speech therapy and youth and community education. Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California has been practicing state-of-the-art audiology hearing health services, such as adult hearing testing, pediatric audiologic testing, otoacoustic emission, auditory evoked measures, to name a few.
