Sojourner Truth House (STH) is a 501(c) 3 not for profit organization located in Gary, Indiana and is sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. STH serves homeless and at-risk women and their children and underserved members of the community through three streams of service.1. Clients staying in local shelters come to the day center for help obtaining benefits, referrals to community support agencies, basic skills and employment training, healthcare screenings and referrals, counseling and assistance with finding housing.2. Once they have satisfactorily completed STH class programs and obtained housing, clients can maintain support through therapeutic programs and ongoing case management as members of the Transitional Outreach Program Participant (TOPPs) program.3.
