Founded in 1992, the Vermont Parent Information Center provides support services to families of children with special needs. Its family consultant program provides support regarding childrens education, behavior, development and transition to adulthood. The center organizes a workshop that features information on parental rights and provides parents with an overview of the special education process and their role as a parent. The Vermont Parent Information Center also offers scholarships to parents who want to attend workshops. It offers a youth leadership program for high school students with special needs in cooperation with the Vermont Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. The program develops self-advocacy skills in youths and increases participation in their education and transition plans. The center is located in Williston, Vt.
