Founded in 1983, Citizens for Adequate Housing Inc, has been a leader in the fight to end homelessness serving families from the North Shore and eastern Massachusetts. Families facing an emergency need of housing have found a temporary home at our Inn Between shelter. Here families are supported as they work to end their homelessness. Our Inn Transition shelter provides a sober-living transitional housing program supporting families as they continue to build on their sobriety, recovery and find permanent housing. The Inn Homes develops and operates affordable housing, and currently manages sixteen apartments in five buildings. At Citizens for Adequate Housing ( CAH ), we believe that the way to help the homeless is to not only provide a place to stay but offer tools empowering families to find permanent solutions ending their homelessness while efforts as we work addressing the The generosity of our donors, and the dedicated work of our staff, partners and volunteers have enabled us to accomplish so much over the last two years: The Board of Directors and the Executive team are pleased to report that we have: Provided housing, services and stability for over 100 families, and have given them a new chance to hope and dream for 150 children ; Successfully changed our Inn Transition program from a 9-month recovery program to a sober-living, transitional housing program serving 8 families ;

Located next to the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center, the PHA is one of several federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) agencies that operates in Massachusetts to provide Section 8 housing for low-income families, individuals with disabilities and seniors. Anne Marie Burns serves as the PHA's executive director and Arthur Turgeon serves as its program director. All told, the PHA owns and operates 500 units of state subsidized housing.
