Serving primarily African-Americans and Hispanics, the non-profit organization Second Chance Last Opportunity provides life management skills and enrichment through theater workshops, field trips, youth mentoring, graduation ceremonies and baking contests while helping to assist people with anger and money management, HIV programs, surviving domestic abuse and much more. It offers teen services, a SPOONS food pantry, clothing distribution and counseling services.
As a local branch of the nationally recognized organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County is dedicated to one-on-one youth mentoring. Established in Pinellas County in 1967, it also serves the nearby counties of Hernando and Citrus. This organization focuses on fostering relationships between adult volunteers and children with the aim of giving them the tools to achieve their personal best. It is located just west of the major intersection of West Bay Drive and Clearwater-Largo Road.
