Our Piece of the Pie, formerly Southend Community Services, provides a variety of youth development services to adolescents and young adults in the Hartford, Conn., area. In operation for more than 30 years, the organization collaborates and partners with schools and colleges, as well as federal, state and city agencies responsible for youth education and employment implementation. The youth may enter OPP programs at any age between 14 and 24, and stay involved as long as it takes to achieve their individual goals. OPP implements one of the most successful AmeriCorps programs in Connecticut. Its members provide reading tutoring, homework and implement community service projects, which serve young school children deemed at-risk of low academic achievement. For youth who are ready for the workplace, OPP coordinates and develops employment placement opportunities, including job search skill training, job placement and job coaching.

About CAHS Founded in 1910, CAHS promotes family economic security strategies that empower low-income working families to achieve financial independence. Our mission is to end poverty and engage, equip and empower all families in Connecticut to build a secure future. CAHS plays a unique role as a catalyst and convener. CAHS works to reduce poverty and build family economic success ( FES ) through outreach, education, and policy work. We inform service providers and others to advocate for policy and practice changes that move lowto moderate-income ( LMI ) families toward prosperity. Most efforts are directed at families under 130 percent of the federal poverty level and all at families under 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Building new leadership across sectors to achieve these goals a broad partnership that includes families, community leaders, nonprofit social services providers and advocates, government, business, labor, faith-based groups and policymakers. Developing and strengthening policies and programs to move families out of poverty and prevent families from falling into poverty by providing universal access to supports and opportunities for lowto middle-income families A key strength of CAHS is our ability to collaborate with others. We bring together diverse interests concerned citizens, policy makers, human service providers, corporate leaders, labor leaders, academics, state and municipal organizations and religious organizations. About FIC FIC is composed of three distinct organizations. FIC Action is an 501 ( c ) ( 4 ) social welfare organization. Political lobbying in defense of marriage and the family is conducted by FIC Action. Given that we have increasingly seen common-sense family values attacked and undermined in our state government, we have increasingly focused on being a strong voice for the family at our capitol. Given that focus, we created a 501 ( c ) ( 4 ) organization in 2004 to increasingly concentrate on lobbying our legislators. This website is maintained by FIC Action. Because of our ability to use your contributions to lobby our legislature, donations to FIC Action are NOT tax-deductible. Family Institute of Connecticut Action Committee is a registered state political action committee. FIC Action Committee was also created in 2004 to help support pro-family candidates to our state government. This organization is governed by state campaign finance laws, and contribution are limited to $1000.00 per individual per calendar year. Contributions are NOT tax-deductible and we can not accept corporate or business contributions. Family Institute of Connecticut is a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non-profit educational organization founded in 1989. Family Institute of Connecticut focuses on marriage strengthening projects, educational efforts, and research. Contributions to Family Institute of Connecticut are tax-deductible. These three organizations allow us to fulfill our mission to encourage and strengthen the family as the foundation of society and to promote sound ethical and moral values in our culture and government. Never before have the family and family life been in such jeopardy and disarray. This crisis is most evident in Americas cities Connecticuts among them where poverty, racial discord and broken families are too often the norm. Our communities, schools and prisons, as well as the moral and ethical fabric of our business community, are all affected by this disturbing trend. Community Solutions, also known as CSI, is a nonprofit organization that provides a range of community-based services for at-risk and disadvantaged youths and adults. The Village for Families & Children, a private, nonprofit community service organization, was established in 1809 as the Hartford Female Beneficent Society and was one of the first agencies in the United States to provide homes for neglected children. The organization touches the lives of more than 7,000 children and families annually through programs and services. The programs help children who have suffered from abuse, neglect or violence, and who may be experiencing emotional, behavioral, psychological and learning problems. Programs and services include treatment, such as outpatient mental health, extended day treatment, the Eagle House, therapeutic mentoring and trauma support; placement and permanency services that include intensive family preservation/reunification, Safe Home, Sankofa House, and foster care and adoption; and family and community support, such as family resource centers, San Juan Tutorial Program and family housing alternatives. Founded in 1959 and located in Head Waters, Va., YDI @ Head Waters Lodge is a recreational facility for children and adults. It includes meeting rooms, as well as dining hall, kitchen and playground. YDI @ Head Waters Lodge organizes various leisure activities that include wall climbing, hiking, fishing, camping and caving trips. It also offers rope courses, zip line, trapeze leap and dangling. YDI @ Head Waters Lodge s leadership program includes classes in prayer and meditation for youths. It also operates the Wilderness Bible Institute, a program which includes classes in Bible by visiting pastors and teachers, as well as operates various online colleges and universities.
