USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park restores and preserves the World War II submarine USS Bowfin, and submarine-related artifacts on its grounds, and in the museum. The visitors to the center are given a walkman-style cassette player that narrates their tour as they explore this historic submarine to imagine what life on board must have been like for its crew. Its 10,000-square-foot museum exhibits a collection of submarine-related artifacts, such as submarine weapon systems, photographs, paintings, battle flags, original recruiting posters, and detailed submarine models, illustrating the history of the U.S. Submarine Service. The center has a minitheater, which features submarine-related videos, and has a seating capacity of up to 40 visitors. Bowfin Park also has a public memorial honoring the 52 American submarines and the more than 3,500 submariners lost during WWII. It is located in Honolulu, Hawaii.

**Each year, our staff...**

*Teaches more than 7,000 children and teens about preventing bullying, building healthy relationships, and preventing dating violence.
*Trains more than 3,000 adults to prevent abuse and help victims.
*Answers over 2,000 crisis calls on 24-hour crisis hotlines.
*Assists with the civil and criminal court processes for more than 3,000 survivors of domestic violence.
*Responds to over 300 survivors of sexual assault and their families.
*Provides a safe home for more than 100 women and their children fleeing domestic violence.
*Coordinates the investigations of over 100 cases of child sexual and severe physical abuse and develops service plans for the young survivors and their families.

Today, CWF se rves residents of Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Connecticut is a non-profit agency that provides adult mentors to children. We recruit, carefully screen and train caring adults to act as mentors, match them with children, and support them.We operate on the premise that a one-to-one relationship with an adult provides the support a child needs to grow and mature into a responsible adult. No program fees are charged for the agencys services- we depend on the support of United Way, private foundations, and personal and corporate donations from the communities we serve.

Established in 1984, Family ReEntry is an agency that offers a range of services for individuals and families to reduce violence, crime, abuse and neglect. It provides counseling services and psychoeducational programs for offenders and their families. The agency operates the Bridgeport Community ReEntry Center, which offers case management and referral services in the areas of finance, housing, employment, medication, education and nutrition. Family ReEntry administers the Youthful Offenders Mentoring Program, which includes the enhancement of self-confidence and development for youths throughout the state of Connecticut. Additionally, the agency maintains a substance abuse treatment and relapse prevention support group that assists and supports individuals with histories of substance abuse.

The Child Guidance Center of Greater Bridgeport, Conn., was founded in 1925 to provide for the emotional and psychological welfare of children and their families living in the area. The center offers a wide range of outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling services for children under the age of 18, as well as a variety of in-home supportive services to their families. The center operates three outpatient clinics located in Bridgeport, Stratford and Fairfield, Conn., in addition to offering services from a number of community agencies throughout Bridgeport. Its services are available in both English and Spanish. The Child Guidance Center of Greater Bridgeport is a member agency of the Eastern Fairfield County United Way and receives funding from the Department of Children and Families, Department of Social Services, Department of Public Health, City of Bridgeport, Corporation for National and Community Services, Save the Children and other private foundations.

Founded in 1987, the Mercy Learning Center offers a range of educational opportunities to low-income women in Greater Bridgeport in Connecticut. Also known as MLC, the center provides financial literacy and life skills development classes. It administers the English as a Second Language program. The Mercy Learning Center maintains a computer laboratory and pantry, as well as offers vocational counseling solutions. The center provides housekeeping, social and educational child care services. It also conducts the National External Diploma Program. The council s Janus House Center for Youth in Crisis provides intervention and counseling for youth and families in Bridgeport.
