The Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California (SCDFC) was founded in 1957 in order to educate, screen and counsel those at risk of having sickle cell disease. Services provided by the organization include case management, transportation assistance, medical referrals, community resource referrals, network groups, holiday giving, resources and advocacy. Other programs include pain education, education, social support and Camp Crescent Moon, a specialized summer camp for children with sickle cell disease. United Way of Santa Cruz County is a community volunteer organization. It offers a number of programs, such as 2-1-1, FamilyWize, HealthCare Outreach, Emergency Food and Shelter, and the Community Assessment Project.
