Ground Zero Clothing & Board Shop, located across from the G Street Pub, is a locally owned chain and the number one skate shop in Yolo County. While not a particularly large store, Ground Zero is packed (but well organized) with skateboards, snowboards, clothing and accessories. The shop promises the lowest price on all of their wares, and if someone else has it cheaper the shop will beat it, taking into account shops worldwide. In addition to sales, the shop also offer rental and repair services. Overall, Ground Zero is a fun shop for all things skating and boarding, with a great selection and knowledgeable, helpful staff.
Ken's Bike and Ski, located next door to Sweet Briar Books, is a large shop that sells, rents and repairs snowsport equipment, bicycles and cycling equipment. The slogan is, "We are serious about your fun." This seems to be the case, as this is the only shop in Davis that carries BMX, dirt jump bikes and mountain bikes; the selection that Ken's offers is huge, with plenty of sales associates available to help guests with selections and questions. Although there are racks and racks of bikes on the main floor of Ken's, unlike many bike shops in Davis, the selection of accessories rivals that of the bikes; the fact that Ken's Bike and Ski has been voted the top bike shop in Yolo County by the Davis Enterprise for three years in a row, from 2007 to 2010, is a testament to the quality of this Davis institution.
