The Law Enforcement Center is a part of the sheriffs department of Steele County, Minn. It handles cases related to illegal alcohol and drug activities, fraud, child abuse and criminal violations. The center maintains a team of patrol officers to assure security of business in rural areas, enforce traffic laws, initial investigation of burglaries, assaults and vandalism. Its civil process handles civil legal documents. The Law Enforcement Center also oversees operation of the Steele County Detention Center, which focuses on safe and humane housing of sentenced and unsentenced detainees awaiting due process. The Law Enforcement Center is located in Owatonna, Minn.
