The mission of the Baltimore County Police Department is to enforce the laws and ordinances of the state and county, safeguard life and property, prevent and detect crime, preserve the peace and protect the rights of all residents. The department is comprised of 12 precincts and features several divisions, such as traffic management, youth services and criminal investigative services. The criminal investigative services include a robbery unit, burglary unit, homicide, arson unit, narcotics, sex crimes, bomb squad and spousal abuse unit. The Baltimore County Police Department is located in Baltimore and employs approximately 150 people.
